Here's a quick overview of my plans for future PyCrypto releases:

- The current source tree will become the 2.1.x branch.

- After 2.1.0 is released, if there is sufficient demand, I will
backport some of the changes and release 2.0.2. This will fix stuff
like the "length mod 64 == 55" bug in the SHA256 module.

- The 3.x branch will be designed to work with Python 3.x, and will
probably drop backward-compatibility for some deprecated APIs.

- PyCrypto 2.x will continue to target Python 2.x until Python 3
   catches on.

I have no timeline for this yet; The next release will happen When It's
Ready (TM), but hopefully no more than two Debian-stable releases will
happen in the meantime. ;-)

Cheers,
  - Dwayne
